The Illinois Department of Employment Security has released the results of the June unemployment rates and most counties experienced increases.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for the state in June is at 5.9 percent, down .1 percent from the previous month. The nation’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is at 5.3 for last month, down from 5.5 in May.
Counties in southern Illinois still have some of the highest rates in the state, especially in the far south, but all were below 8.2 percent.
The seasonally unadjusted June rate for Marion County had an increase to 6.1 last month from 5.7 the previous month. It was at 7.8 a year ago.
Jefferson County went up from 5.7 in May to 6.0 last month. It was 7.4 a year ago. Clinton went up to 4.0 in June from 3.9 in May and it is the 4th lowest rate in the state again. One year ago it was at 5.3 percent.
Washington County is at 3.5, for the 3rd month in a row, and it is still the 2nd lowest unemployment rate in the state. Last June it was at 4.7 percent.
