WOODSTOCK. Ill. (AP) — McHenry County authorities say a sheriff’s deputy shot last year while responding to a call of domestic violence call has died.

The sheriff’s department says Deputy Dwight Maness was still recovering from injuries he sustained less than a year ago a

shooting in Holiday Hills when he died Monday.
Authorities allege Scott Peters fired a semi-automatic rifle at sheriff’s deputies responding to a report of a disturbance at his Holiday Hills home. Deputy Khalia Satkiewicz was also injured.

Maness was shot in the back and leg and remained dependent on a wheelchair or walker. Satkiewicz also survived.
Peters, who was captured after a 16-hour manhunt, was sentenced in June to 135 years in prison.

State’s Attorney Lou Bianchi says Peters could face additional charges if it’s determined Maness died of the wounds.
