Police say Kiondre L. Fitzgerald ran from a vehicle they had stopped in connection with a complaint they had received of someone in a car allegedly pointing a gun at another person.
According to police, shortly after they received the complaint, they saw the suspect vehicle and pulled it over. The suspect was identified as Fitzgerald and he allegedly had a handgun.
Police say Fitzgerald ignored officers’ commands, got out of the vehicle and ran away. After a short chase, police caught Fitzgerald a few blocks away.
He was treated and released from a Carbondale hospital for minor injuries and taken to the Jackson County Jail with bail set at $200,000. The investigation is ongoing.
In May Fitzgerald was arrested in Bond County on charges of illegally possessing ammunition without a FOID card and possessing between 2.5 and 10 grams of cannabis. He was free on bond in that case at the time of his arrest in Jackson County Monday.
