Prosecutors say in August Robert Dennis, and two others strangled Robin Stief and bludgeoned her to death with a hammer in Carbondale.

Dennis was arraigned Thursday morning in Jackson County Court on charges of first-degree murder and concealment of a homicidal death.

According to court records, in August police found Stief’s body, burned beyond recognition, in a trash can in a wooded area off Main Street in Carbondale.

Prosecutors charged Dennis and two others with that crime as well as her murder. Tiesha Anderson pleaded not guilty, but Lauren Stinde has admitted to the crime. A judge will sentence her in February.
