SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — When Illinois voters went to the polls November 8, they were actually voting for presidential and vice-presidential electors, who would ultimately cast their ballot for the two U.S. leaders.
Electors from all 50 states and the District of Columbia are required to meet the same day in their respective state capitols to cast their ballots. In Illinois, there are 20 electors.
Secretary of State Jesse White has announced the meeting of Illinois’ Electoral College will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, December 19, in Illinois House Hearing Room 118 of the State Capitol Building in Springfield.
White will preside over the proceedings where the 20 Illinois electoral members will formally cast their ballots for President and Vice President of the United States.
The meeting will be streamed live online at ilga.gov.
