WASHINGTON COUNTY — Authorities have released the name of a 23-year-old man killed in a Friday night crash blamed on icy roads.

Robert Loouveau of Addieville was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday night on Route 153 just south of Lively Grove.  According to Illinois State Police, Looveau was a passenger in a GMC van driven by his mother, Becka Heitman.

ISP says Heitman’s van slid on the ice and struck a Dodge pickup truck driven by Klif Kline of Coulterville.  The head-on collision caused heavy front-end damage on both vehicles.

The two drivers, who were wearing seatbelts, were extricated from the vehicles by the Coulterville Fire Department before being taken by ambulance to a local hospital and subsequently airlifted to a St. Louis hospital with major injuries.

Looveau, who was unrestrained at the time of the collision, was pronounced dead on the scene by Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger.  Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene, and the highway was closed for five hours.
