OTTAWA, Ill. — A second death is being blamed on Tuesday’s tornado in Ottawa.  David Johnson died yesterday in a Peoria hospital from head trauma.

Police say he was working in his backyard when the storm hit. The LaSalle County twister left a 76-year-old man dead from a fallen branch in the same backyard Tuesday, while 300 miles away in Crossville, a 71-year-old man was killed when a building collapsed.

Governor Bruce Rauner is promising help to residents and business owners in LaSalle County hit by the tornado Tuesday.

Rauner and IEMA director James Joseph toured some of the damage in LaSalle County after what’s been determined to be a category three tornado with winds of up to 155 miles per hour.
