COLLINSVILLE, Ill. — A 24-year-old Mt. Vernon man was arrested Tuesday in the Collinsville area after he took police on a pursuit in a vehicle he allegedly hijacked at gunpoint in Mt. Vernon.

 

Anthony Humphries was arrested at around 11 p.m. Tuesday after taking authorities on a pursuit that ended in the Caseyville area.

 

Humphries is charged with vehicular hijacking and armed violence to an incident that began around 9 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of South 15th Street in Mt. Vernon.

 

Humphries allegedly pointed a gun at an individual during a domestic dispute before fleeing the area, receiving a ride to the 2200 block of Perkins Avenue, where he displayed a handgun and robbed the driver of the vehicle.

 

Humphries is being held at the Collinsville Police Department pending charges in St. Clair County related to the pursuit before he’s returned to Mt. Vernon to face local charges.
