CLINTON COUNTY — A two-vehicle crash Monday morning in Clinton County has resulted in the death of a 17-year-old and sent two others to the hospital.
According to reports, the crash occurred just before 7:33 a.m. Monday on Route 161 near Shoal Creek Road just east of Germantown.
Illinois State Police say the 17-year-old Avery Crist was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu when he lost control on the wet pavement and went into the westbound lanes, where the car hit a 2004 Chevrolet Caviler.
Reports show a 17-year-old male driver and his 14-year-old female passenger were occupants of the Cavalier. They were both airlifted to St. Louis Children’s Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Christ was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a senior at Breese Central Community High School and was on the school’s football team
