WAYNE COUNTY — A 49-year-old Fairfield man has been sentenced to 180 years in prison after a Wayne County jury earlier found him guilty of six felony counts of Class X predatory criminal sexual assault.

Raymond M. Morris was convicted in January of sexually assaulting his 10-year-old daughter starting in 2012.

Testimony at sentencing Friday revealed Morris also beat the girl with a vacuum cleaner cord and a “flogging stick.”

Based upon the evidence presented at the three day trial in January, the jury returned guilty verdicts on the six Class X felony charges against Morris after just five hours of deliberation.
