MOUNT VERNON — Mt. Vernon police arrested a 28-year-old Mt. Vernon man Thursday night following a brief foot pursuit.
Dustin Smith was arrested on charges of aggravated assault of a state employee, aggravated battery of someone over age 60, and on a bond forfeiture warrant.
A person matching Smith’s description reportedly fled from Crossroads Hospital ICU Wednesday night.
The subject was reportedly naked and evaded law enforcement when he ran toward the woods near the school.
While Police Chief Trent Page could confirm that a Jefferson County Jail inmate fled from the hospital Wednesday night, the law prohibited him from revealing that person’s identity.
Page says his officers spotted Smith walking Thursday and that he fled on foot. A brief foot pursuit, however, resulted in Smith’s arrest.
