WHITE COUNTY — A Thursday morning traffic stop on Interstate 64 in White County resulted in the arrest of a North Carolina truck driver on multiple drug-related charges after more than 3,000 grams of cannabis and $130,000 in cash were reportedly discovered in his truck.

According to the Illinois State Police, a trooper stopped 31-year-old Tony Maurice Boose, of Raleigh, North Carolina Thursday morning for alleged speeding on I-64.

During the traffic stop, the trooper reportedly discovered over 3,000 grams of cannabis, cannabis edibles, cannabis wax, numerous items of drug paraphernalia, and an open alcohol container. In addition, over $130,000 cash was located and seized from the cab of the truck tractor.

Boose is currently in the White County Jail in Carmi charged with DUI-drugs; possession of cannabis more than 2,000 grams, but less than 5,000 grams; possession of drug paraphernalia; illegal possession of alcohol; speeding; and a motor carrier safety log book violation.

The Southern Illinois Drug Task Force (SIDTF) and the White County State’s Attorney assisted ISP with this investigation.
