MOUNT VERNON — The Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a Friday morning fire at a home in Mt. Vernon.

Mt. Vernon firefighters responded to a report of the fire at a home in the 1300 block of South 26th. Units arriving on scene reported smoke coming from the eaves of the home and from one window on the west side.

The fire response resulted in 26th north from Veterans Memorial Drive to Wescott being temporarily blocked while firefighters remained on scene.

An arson investigator from the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the blaze.

No injuries were reported.
