SOUTHERN ILLINOIS — A mild earthquake hit an area in Southern Illinois Monday afternoon.
on Oct. 15 at 2:31 p.m.

The quake hit around 2:31 p.m. Monday in an area about 3.7 miles northwest of Sparta.

It was near Houston area of Illinois was a magnitude 2.1 earthquake according to the USGS.
