CENTRALIA — The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees has announced the hiring of the first three officers of the College’s new police force.

Brian Atchinson of Hoffman, Eric Wagner and Shanon Neiber of Vandalia bring nearly 80 years of law enforcement experience to the newly created department, joining Director of Public Safety Jeff Brown in providing safety and security to KC students, faculty and staff, as well as visitors of the campus and its education centers.  Brown retired in 2018 as the Bond County Sheriff after 23 years in that seat.

Atchinson is a 30-year veteran of the Centralia Police Department, most recently serving as the Chief of Police.  Wagner is a 22-year veteran of the Vandalia Police Department while Neiber served 26 years as a member of the Vandalia Police Department.  All three officers will be formally sworn in during a ceremony in October.
