EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Someone described as “a strong person of interest” has been detained in relation to the death of a prominent lawyer and civic booster from the Illinois side of the St. Louis area.

The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis is investigating the death of Randy Gori. Police found him dead around 9 p.m. Saturday in his rural Edwardsville home after a 911 call.

Authorities didn’t say how Gori died. His law firm specializes in asbestos litigation, and has secured more than $3 billion in compensation for clients. Gori also founded a real estate and property management company.
