CENTRALIA — Centralia police arrested a 25-year-old Salem man over the weekend in connection with an early Saturday morning incident in which shots were fired into a home in the 1000 block of North Lincoln.
According to police, they were already looking for Devon Gibbs in connection with shots fired into the same home a week earlier.
During their investigation, officers went to several homes in Centralia where Gibbs was known to frequent. He was ultimately found hiding in one of the homes and was taken into custody without incident.
Gibbs was arrested on charges of criminal damage to property, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated assault, and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with the earlier incident.
According to reports, just after midnight, Saturday a vehicle drove by the North Lincoln house and a passenger in a car fired shots into the home.
A man on foot reportedly fired shots into the same home the previous weekend. That person wasn’t located following the incident but police later identified Gibbs as a possible suspect. No one was hurt in either incident.
Both shootings reportedly involved a dispute between Gibbs and a resident of the home over a female.
Anyone with information on the shootings is encouraged to contact Centralia Police.
Gibbs was arrested in January on Class X felony charges of home invasion with a dangerous weapon and home invasion causing injury stemming from an incident in Salem. He is currently free on a $750 cash bond in that case, which is set for a June pre-trial hearing.
