JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department responded Friday night to a report of a residential burglary in the 10-000 block of East Cedar Hills Road in Mt. Vernon.
JCSO reports many household items, and firearms were discovered missing during the initial investigation.
Contact was made with suspects, in close proximity to the residence, which led Deputies and Detectives to 325 Pine Dr in Mt. Vernon, for further investigation.
Sheriff’s Office personnel recovered numerous items of stolen property and Jason M. and Michael W. Upton, both 39 years old and of Mt. Vernon, were arrested as a result.
They were both taken to the Jefferson County Jail. Bail for Jason and Michael Upton was set at $150,000 each.
Jason Upton was formally charged in Jefferson County Court Monday with Class 1 felony residential burglary and Class 3 felony possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine.
Michael Upton was charged with Class 1 felony burglary.
The investigation is ongoing and additional criminal charges anticipated.
