MURPHYSBORO — Governor JB Pritzker is expected to announce Monday the increased restrictions in Region 5 of the state, which includes Marion and Jefferson counties.

Pritzker is scheduled to hold a COVID-19 briefing at 2:30 Monday in Murphysboro. Region 5 on Monday hit its third straight day of average positivity rates above 8 percent (8.5, 9.1, 9.1), which will send it into mitigation.

As of Sunday, Region 5’s 7-day rolling average positivity rate was 9.1 percent and had been above 8 percent for two straight days. Three days of 8 percent or higher triggers mitigation.
