Susan T. Allen, 64, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 3:45 am August 3, 2022 at White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mount Vernon.

She was born October 28, 1957 in Odessa, Texas to the late Clinton and Virginia Ruth Shepard. Susan married Darrold Allen and he preceded her in death in 2006.Susan is survived by her daughters, Shanna Huston and significant other, Keith Stoeber of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Stephanie Nguyen and husband, Bao of Simi Valley, California; grandchildren, Valerie Huston and fiancé, Tyler Anderson, Ryan Nguyen, Allison Nguyen, Ruth Nguyen, Brooklyn Huston; great-grandchildren, Paisleigh Anderson, Princeton Anderson, Phoenix Anderson; and sister, Ginger Armstrong. In addition to her parents and husband, Susan was preceded in death by her son, Shawn Otterson and brother, Michael Shepard. Susan worked as a CNA for many years. She was a member of West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon. Everyone knew her as “Nana” and she will be greatly missed.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Graveside Service will begin at 11:30 am at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Mr. Lee Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow.
