Carolyn June True, 80 years, 6 months and 4 days, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed into God’s hands at 1:07 am on August 06, 2022 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born on February 2, 1942 in Mount Vernon to the late Herbert and Bessie (Phillips) Murphy. She married James N. Lemons in March of 1988 and he preceded her in death on June 2, 2011. She later married Darrell True on September 20, 2013. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Darrell True; sons, Bill and wife, Janet Fletcher of Sesser, and David and wife, Tina Fletcher of Mount Vernon, step-daughters, Cathy and husband, John Munyon of Woodlawn, Teresa and husband, Wayne Steger of Woodlawn, Sheila Tackitt of Dix, and Patricia and husband, Chris Agos of Encino, California; step-son, Randy True and girlfriend Cissie Fosse of West Frankfort; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 22 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Buchanan of Opdyke and Tammy Murphy of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, James, Carolyn was preceded in death by her three brothers, Elmer, Terry and Ralph Murphy; niece, Millie Belltramea; and sister-in-law, Mary Murphy. Mrs. True was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Church in Mount Vernon. She was a housekeeper at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon for many years until her retirement in 2008. Carolyn loved God and her family. Her greatest joy was going for car rides with her husband and visiting with her family. She always had a smile on her face and love to share with everyone. Her absence will be felt by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday August 9, 2022 at Calvary Pentecostal Church in Mount Vernon from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday August 10, 2022 at the church starting at 11:00 am with Reverend Steve Edwards officiating.
