SALEM — William Irvin “Billy” O’Bryan, 88, of Salem, Illinois passed away on October 6, 2022.

Born May 6, 1934, in Springfield, Washington Co., KY, he was the son of Thomas W. and Mary A. (Badgett) O’Bryan.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday at St. Dominque Catholic Church in Springfield, KY. Visiting hours will be Monday evening from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm at the Hale Polin Robinson Funeral Home, 221 E. Main St., Springfield, KY. Burial will follow in the St. Rose Cemetery at Springfield. Local arrangements are being handled by the Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 97, Salem, IL 62881 618-548-1234, entrusted with the family’s care. Memorials may be made to the Donor’s choice and will be received by either funeral home.

“Billy” was united in marriage with Sylvia Marie Thomas and she preceded him in death.

“Billy” retired from Salem Gravure – Division of World Color Press formerly located in Salem. He was a faithful member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Salem. He enjoyed the nature that surrounded him, feeding his deer, and gardening, He also enjoy horse racing and watching Kentucky Wildcat basketball. He had served in the United States Army.

Surviving is his son, William N. O’Bryan and wife Melissa of Salem, IL, two grandchildren, sisters Christine Ray and Shirley Cissell both of Kentucky, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Junior, Bernerd, Foster, Buddy, Richard, Joe Morris and Freddy O’Bryan, along with sisters Jane Bradshaw and Martha Baxter.
