Roger Kent Newell, 67, of Waltonville, Illinois, passed away at 2:46 pm October 31, 2022 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born November 28, 1954 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Fred Marvin and Lois Marie (Gilbert) Newell. Roger married Abby (England) Newell on February 14, 1976.

In addition to his beloved wife of forty-six years, Roger is survived by his daughters, Jessica Lynn Kimpel and husband, Justin of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Vanessa Dawn McGuire and husband, Ryan of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Veronica Lea Raley and husband, Elias of Sesser, Illinois; grandchildren, Wyatt Johnson, Addison Johnson, Shane Kimpel, Michelle Kimpel, Phoenix McGuire, Aidan McGuire, and Emma McGuire; brothers, Wayne, Paul, Gary, and Dennis Newell; and sisters, Darla Burton and Donna Newell.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin Newell and sister, Joyce Newell.

Roger worked at Vernwood Press in Mount Vernon, World Color Press in Salem, and Petty Printing in Effingham. He was a custodian at Waltonville Unit School District #1. Roger absolutely loved fishing. He also enjoyed hunting and camping. His more important priority was his family. Roger was a loving husband, father, and papa and will be dearly missed.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Reverend Brian Fuller officiating. Interment will follow at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville, Illinois.
