BREESE — Dorothy Lynn Bostick passed away on February 9, 2023, surrounded by her family at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, Illinois. Dorothy was born on February 15th, 1946 in Chicago Illinois to Dorothy (Wagner) Bielski and Edward Bielski. She then married her husband Otis L. Bostick on January 8th, 1966. They celebrated 57 years of marriage this year.

Dorothy was passionate about her work. She worked as a beautician for 30 years before working at St. Mary’s School in Centralia as their head cook. She went on to achieve her associate’s degree in Special Education.

She worked as a teacher’s aide for Grace Kare, and then Centralia City Schools under early childhood development for 8 years before retiring. Dorothy was a member of the Murray Center Parents Association and the Lady Knights for many years. She was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church for a half-century. Dorothy was very talented at art and passionate about the art she created, she had showcases to display her art in Salem, IL. She loved to garden and grew lots of flowers each year. She took pride in her art and her flower garden.

She is survived by her husband, Otis L. Bostick of Breese IL; sons Jeff Bostick of Centralia IL, and Jason and Cathy Bostick of Breese; Brothers Kenneth Edward Bielski of Fox Lake, IL, James J. and Barbara Bielski of Punta Gorda FL; brother-in-law Jan and Celia Bostick of WA; and grandchildren Marissa Bostick, Chloe Bostick, and one on the way. She will be dearly missed by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Dorothy Bielski, and sister Nancy Ann Bielski.

Visitation for Dorothy Bostick will be held from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Centralia. Services for Dorothy will follow at 10 a.m. on February 24th, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Murray Center Parents Association or St. Mary’s Catholic Church and will be accepted at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, 618-532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Bostick family.
