WALTONVILLE — Multiple departments responded Monday morning to a mutual aid call for a fire in a Waltonville grain bin.

The call came in around 10 a.m. for a fire at the AgriPride FS Grain facility at 314 Hirons Street in Waltonville.

Reports indicate firefighters were battling a working fire inside one of the grain bins. The Salem Fire Department responded to the scene of the fire with grain bin rescue equipment, while Franklin County EMA was called to assist with their drone.

Other departments responding with equipment and/or manpower include Ashley, Benton, Centralia, Coello, Christopher, Ewing Northern, Jefferson Fire, Kell, Mt. Vernon, Odin, Sesser, Wayne, Woodlawn, and Valier.

The Red Cross was also called to the scene, where crews remained Monday afternoon.
