SALEM — Rita Jean Schulte, 74, of Salem, Illinois, passed away March 22, 2023, in the emergency room at Salem Township Hospital with family by her side.

Born January 19, 1949, in Salem, she was the daughter of Robert Tilden and Lenora Jean (Morgan) Meadows.

The family invites you to gather at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the East Lawn Cemetery in Salem for a graveside service. Rita, an avid reader, will be remembered as being a very kind-hearted soul, that enjoyed her cat figurine collection, and was a die-hard Elvis Presley fan.

She is survived by her son Kevin Meadows of Salem, Illinois, her mother Jean Meadows of Salem, IL, sisters Bert Meadows of Lake Centralia, IL, and Becky Helton of Salem, IL

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her brother Robbie Meadows and a niece, Crystal Helton.
