CENTRALIA — William “Bill” R. Carr, Jr., 76, of Centralia, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.
He was born September 15, 1946, in Centralia, the son of William R. Carr, Sr., and Edna Venita (Dilg) Carr. He married Patricia Sillars on October 25, 1975, and she survives in Centralia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2023,  at St. Mary Church in Centralia with Father Steven Pautler officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Centralia. Military Honors will be accorded at the gravesite by the Centralia American Legion Post 446 and the Centralia V.F.W. Post 2055.

A Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Centralia American Legion Post 446 and the Centralia Humane Society and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, 618-532-3523, which is honored to be of service to the Carr family.

In addition to his wife of 47 years, Patricia “Pat” Carr of Centralia, he is also survived by his two children: Rebecca “Becky” (Carr) Froneyberger and husband Ryan of Munster, Indiana, and Andrew “Andy” Robert Carr and wife Rachele of Shiloh; four grandchildren: Ayden, Adelyn, Archer and Maddox; two brothers: Richard “Dick” Carr and wife Mary of Ohio and Michael “Mike” Carr and wife Sandy of Arizona; brother-in-law: James “Jim” Sillars and wife Marilyn of Rushville; two sisters-in-law: Connie Buerk and husband Jerry of Tower Hill and Gail Morgason of Smithton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved cat, Lancaster.

Bill served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for the State of Illinois for 20-plus years. He was an avid reader and he enjoyed cooking. Bill was a member of St. Mary Church in Centralia. Bill loved and cherished his family.

He was loved and will be truly missed.
