MCLEANSBORO, Ill. — Harl Edwin Weaver, 96, of McLeansboro, IL passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at McLeansboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Harl was born on January 5, 1927, a son of Elmo Herschel Weaver & Sarah Elizabeth (Taylor) Weaver.  On December 7, 1947, he married Mona (Ballard) Weaver, who preceded him in death on December 25, 2018.

Harl worked as a farmer, and enjoyed farming crops and raising livestock.  He had served in the Merchant Marines from 1944 – 1947.  He also was a school bus driver for Hamilton County Unit #10 School District.  He was an active member of the Pleasant Union Church in Blairsville, IL.

He was an avid deer hunter and he collected antique tractors.  He always had a smile on his face, and he enjoyed having a good laugh.  He made many friends during his life and treasured those relationships.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.  He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harl is survived by a daughter Angela Vineyard & husband Jay, and their children: Jesse & wife Jamie, Lacy, Danielle, Kaylene, and Silas; and grandchildren Jeremiah Weaver & wife Bridget and their children: Zacariah, Jaron, and Elizabeth; Aaron Weaver & wife Jamie and their children: Kimberlyn, Easson, Maissie, and Shelby; and Kizzy Richards & husband Jeff and their children: Hannah, Hayden, Corey, Christopher & wife Danielle, and Caitlin & husband Matthew; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elmo & Sarah Weaver, his wife Mona Weaver, a son Jerome Kim Weaver, a daughter Harlena Kay Weaver, a sister Mattase “Tater” Cagle, a brother Herschel “Dutch” Weaver, a sister Imogene Taylor, and a sister Elaine Ballard.

Funeral services for Harl Edwin Weaver will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Pastor Roger Ash officiating.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from noon until the time of service at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.  Interment will follow the funeral service at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro.
