SALEM — Myrtle Wester Fields, 98 of Salem, Illinois passed at away July 18, 2023 with family by her side.

Born May 10, 1925 in Iuka, IL she was the daughter of Henery Fred and Maude Francis (Payne) Henne.

A homemaker, she worked many years for her brother at Doc Henne Construction in Salem. She was a faithful member of Ohio Street Church of Christ in Salem. She will be remembered by family as a really good mom and grandmother, who dearly loved her family. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, quilting and crocheting.

In 1941, she joined in marriage with Lawson Johnson Fields in Stevenson Twp., Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1993.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen McConnaughhay of Salem, grandsons Gary McConnaughhay and wife Jeness of Salem, and Steve McConnaughhay and wife Larisa of Salem, IL. Also her great grandchildren including Jonathan, Rebecca, Jennifer and husband David, Daniel and Mandy. Also left to mourn her passing is her sister Dorthy Snow and husband Alfred of Salem along with nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by her son Kenneth Fields, his sons Keith and Kenny Ray Fields, son-in-law Jim McConnaughhay and granddaughter-in-law Lisa McConnaughhay,

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Friday, July 21, 2023 in the chapel of Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 97, 310 N. Broadway Salem, IL 62881 (618) 548-1234 entrusted with the family’s care. Rob Slover will officiate. Visiting hours will be from 9:00 am until the service hour at the funeral home.
