MARION COUNTY — A 33-year-old Centralia woman pleaded guilty Wednesday in Marion County Court to a reduced charge of aggravated domestic battery stemming from her arrest in 2020 for allegedly causing second-degree burns on her 7-month-old baby.

A Class X felony charge of aggravated battery of a child under 13 resulting in permanent disability was dismissed against Stacie Bender per the plea agreement.

Bender was arrested in March of 2020 after she called Centralia police for a domestic battery complaint and officers reportedly discovered multiple burns on the child’s torso.

The baby was taken for emergency medical treatment and DCFS placed the child in protective custody.

Sentencing in the case is scheduled for October 11.
