MOUNT VERNON — Tina Renèe Staples, 54, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, went home to be with Jesus. She departed from this earthly world on August 16, 2023 at home surrounded by her family.

She was born November 8, 1968 in Mount Vernon to Robert Eugene “Bob” and Sandra Lou (Denham) Kissner. Tina married Brian Wayne Staples on June 20, 1987. They celebrated 36 beautiful years of marriage together.

In addition to her favorite, Brian, Tina is survived by her daughter, Courtney Pace and husband, Bryan of Wayne City, Illinois; son, Caleb Staples and wife, Maggie of Wayne City; grandchildren, Braxten Pace, Paisley Pace, and Ezekiel Staples, all of Wayne City; parents-in-law, Virgil and Jan Staples of Mount Vernon; sister-in-law, Sheila Forristall and husband, Robert of Bluford, Illinois; nephew, Dustin Forristall and wife, Sierra of Bluford; niece, Brittany Galloway and husband, Cody of Sesser, Illinois; several great-nieces and nephews; and her special canine buddy, Winchester.

Tina was preceded in death by her great-niece, Addison Grace Galloway.

Tina was witty and kind. Whatever room she walked in, she shined. She enjoyed watermelon and Snickers bars with almonds. She loved her family, especially her grandkids big bunches. Most of all, Tina loved the Lord. She served as Chaplain for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department for many years and was a faithful member of Summersville Missionary Baptist Church. She also dedicated many years of service to Relay for Life, two of which were as a chairperson. No matter what battle Tina was faced with, she praised God. Her strong will and faithful heart are an inspiration to all. Tina will be lovingly missed here on earth until she is reunited with her loved ones in Heaven. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” – 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
