MOUNT VERNON — Ellen Lynnette Brown, 64, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 2:33 am February 2, 2024 at her home. She was born February 5, 1959 in Patuxent River, Missouri to the late Clayton Gerald and Jean Alice  (Ford) Brown. Ellen married Russell Clark. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2018.

Ellen is survived by her daughters, Katherine Cole and husband, Victor of Ina, Illinois and Elizabeth Cates and husband, Jayson of Sesser, Illinois; son, Douglas Green of Lemon Grove, California; special adopted daughter, Mary Gifford; grandchildren, Alexis Green, Clayton Green, Josephine Cole, Victor Cole, Jr., Martin Cates, Jr., Jessie Cates, Jareth Silliman, and Jayven Silliman; sister, Vicky Evans of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ellen was preceded in death by her siblings, Scott, Ricky, Jodi, and Marsha.

Per her wishes, Ellen will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
