TEXICO, Ill. — Amy Lyn Burk, 45, of Texico, Illinois, passed away at 7:00 am March 3, 2024 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born December 8, 1978 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Michael Burk and Rebecca (Rainey) Hester.

Amy is survived by her parents, Michael and Carol Burk and Rebecca and Thomas Hester; son, Cody Young and significant other, Bella; daughters, Taylor Young and significant other, Heath, Ashlei Hubbard and husband, Blais, Logan Young and significant other, Justin; grandson, Kolby; brothers, Adam Burk and wife, Susan, Andrew Burk and wife, Amanda, and Kirk Hester; step brother, Brad McBride and wife, Sherry; step sister, Jennifer Thompson and husband, Jason; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Amy was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Arnold and Jean Burk and maternal grandparents, Gloria and Cletus Rainey and her fiance, Chris Kackowski.

Amy loved fishing especially, at Bonnie Dam. She also enjoyed doing her daughters hair and make-up. Amy had been in girl scouts, FFA, cheerleader, basketball, and the school crossing guard at Horace Mann Grade School. She was an advanced student and always made straight A’s. Amy was dearly loved by her family, friends and will be greatly missed.

A Visitation will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 10:00 am at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Jason Webb officiating. Interment will follow at South Hickory Hill Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Amy’s honor to American Cancer Society.
