MARION COUNTY — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has announced Route 161 at the Skillet Fork Bridge is now open to traffic.

Work began on the bridge last week. A structural plate that had earlier been installed on a portion of the bridge experiencing concrete failure has been removed, and new concrete has been poured.

Weight limits still apply on the bridge. Single vehicles are limited to 10 tons, while combination truck and trailer is limited to 15 tons. Motorists are urged to follow the 15-ton weight limit over the bridge to avoid its failure and complete closure.
