WILLIAMSON COUNTY – The National Weather Service in Paducah Sunday afternoon upgraded Friday night’s tornado in southern Williamson County from an EF-3 to EF-4.

It began at 6:15 p.m. in the western part of the county. Peak winds reached 190 mph. Its maximum width was 575 yards and traveled 16.5 miles ending in the eastern part of the county. Seven were injured. No deaths were reported.
This is the strongest tornado to impact the NWS Paducah area of responsibility since the EF-4 tornado that hit the Mayfield, KY area on December 10, 2021.
Elsewhere an EF-1 tornado with peak winds of 90 mph was reported in southeast Saline County. An EF-2 tornado with peak winds of 115 mph was reported in far southeast Saline County, and across southern Gallatin County.
The Saline County Sheriff’s Office says there was no loss of life or any major property damage from the storms.
