Doris Maurer, age 72 of Dix, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Doris was born on July 11, 1952, in Salem, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Agnes (Albert) Brewer.  She married Calvin C. Maurer on January 28, 2003, in Salem, Illinois and he preceded her in death on April 18, 2011.

Survivors include her son, Mike Brewer and wife Jenny of Kinmundy; stepdaughter, Stephanie Brennon of Pennsylvania; sister, Teresa Ronat and husband Ed of Mt. Vernon; brother, Dale Brewer and wife Beth of Moulton, AL; sister-in-law, Peggy Brewer of Sumner; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Dwaine Allen Brewer.

Doris was a member of Brown Christian Church in Kinmundy.   She worked for several years as a food supervisor at Bryan Manor and several other local facilities.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society, and the Brown Christian Church Women’s group.

Funeral services for Doris A. Maurer will be held at Noon on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.  Burial will follow at Allmon Cemetery in Alma.  There will be a visitation held on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Brown Christian Church or Allmon Cemetery and will be received at the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories can be left at www.CrouseFH.com.
