Reba Mae Puckett, 90, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 5:05 am July 20, 2025 at Mount Vernon Countryside Manor. She was born December 5, 1934 in Keenes, Illinois to the late Lawrence T. and Reba Opal (Burgess) Austin. Reba married George Eugene Puckett, Sr. on June 12, 1951 in Jefferson County, Illinois. They were blessed with sixty-six years of marriage before he preceded her in death on January 9, 2018.

Reba is survived by her children, Sherry Hann of Mount Vernon, George Puckett, Jr. of Mount Vernon, Rita Bula and husband, Matt of Terre Haute, Indiana, Thomas Puckett and wife, Charlene of Chicago Heights, Illinois, and Karen Willis and husband, Toby of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Eric Shelton and wife, Amber, Erin Robinson and husband, Rob, Jennifer Lane and husband, Scott, Sarah Corbett and husband, Dave, Tiffany Cunning, Jessica Bula and Austin, Joshua Bula, Michael Karpik and wife, Sandra, Angela Thurston and husband, Steve, Justin Puckett and wife, Denise, Bob Willis and Sophie, and Colten Willis and Autumn; twenty-two great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; brother, Owen Austin of Mount Vernon; and sisters, Cheryl Marlow of Mount Vernon and Marla Austin of Mount Vernon.

In addition to her parents and husband, Reba was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Shelton and great-granddaughter, Esther Jimmalou Cunning.

Reba was a homemaker, mother of six, who loved and cherished her family especially, her grandchildren. She loved having company and being around others. Reba always put others first and she will be dearly missed.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Donald Rector officiating. Interment will follow at South Hickory Hill Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Reba’s honor to South Hickory Hill.
