Amy Jo (Fleener) Jenkins, 42, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away on September 1, 2025, leaving behind a legacy and generation of love, laughter, and compassion. Born on April 24, 1983, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to Robert L. “Boo” Fleener and Jo Ann (Hoffman) Fleener, Amy always had a heart full of kindness. She dedicated over 20 years to nursing, where her nurturing spirit touched thousands of patients and saved countless lives. Her contagious laugh lit up rooms, and would put a smile on anyone’s face.

Amy was a devoted mother and grandmother, and she cherished spoiling her eight grandchildren, and creating memories filled with joy and laughter. Amy’s relationship with God guided her to always see the best in people, even when they couldn’t see it themselves. She loved sunsets, and Christmas lights, she loved decorating and being festive. Amy loved giving, and sharing stories of her adventurous life with others. Despite life’s challenges, Amy was a fighter, the strongest woman many ever knew. She stood up for those she loved, never took nonsense from anyone, and found reasons to laugh even in the hardest times. Her goofy humor and ability to cherish relationships with friends and family made her truly special. Amy lived a life full of adventure, love, and memories.

Amy is survived by her children, Alyssa Ann Jenkins, Devin Wayne Jenkins, Caden Ray Jenkins, and Mackensie Jo Jones; her father and stepmother, Robert L. and Shawn Marie Fleener; her brothers, Christopher Kyle (Cerica) Fleener, Derek Wayne (Chandra) Fleener, Dustin Scott (Paula) Pinner, Austin John (Mia) Pinner, and Levi James Fleener; her uncles, Steve (Anita) Davis, Tim (Laura) Fleener, Mel Hoffman, and Robbie Ellis; her aunts, Lisa (Robbie) Ellis, Bobbie Jo (Jose) Ruiz, Trina Darnell, Tracy (Curtis) Simonson, and Jamie Flota (Tom) Alvis; and 28 first cousins, eight grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother, Jo Ann Fleener; her grandparents, Melvin (Janet) Hoffman, Ruth Ann (Ray) Rice, Carla Mae Davis, and Robert L. Fleener; and her uncle, Donald L. Fleener.
