CARBONDALE – A 17-year-old male juvenile suspect from Marion County was arrested following a Monday morning robbery in Carbondale.
Carbondale Police responded around 9:40 a.m. to the 400 block of West Jackson Street and learned the victim was walking from their vehicle when the juvenile grabbed property they were carrying and struck them in the face. The juvenile then fled on foot with the victim’s property. Officers located the juvenile in the immediate area with some of the victim’s property. Officers recovered the remainder of the victim’s property, which had been discarded by the juvenile.
The juvenile was arrested for Robbery and Aggravated Battery and lodged in the Jackson County Jail pending detention at a regional juvenile detention facility. The victim received a minor injury and was treated at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
The investigation remains active and ongoing according to police.
