
Margaret A. Mainer, age 75, of Odin, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
Margaret was born on October 22, 1950, in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Leslie Allen and Freda (Cooley) Groff. On May 18, 1969, she married Michael Mainer at the First Christian Church on South Broadway in Salem. Together, they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael of Odin; her daughter, Michelle Mainer and husband Keith McMath of Las Vegas, Nevada; her son, Michael Mainer of Odin; surrogate son, Jamie Wilkins of Odin; her granddaughter, Kamryn Mainer of Odin; and her niece, Leslie Groff of Central City.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Marjorie; her sister, Betty; and her brother, Phil.
Margaret worked for several years at Walmart in Salem. In her spare time, she enjoyed beadwork, going on cruises, and caring for animals, which she dearly loved. She also had a deep appreciation for the veterans of our community and was a proud supporter of their service. Margaret was a member of the Auxiliary of the Disabled American Veterans in Centralia.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Robert Crouch officiating. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
