Roger C. Moore, 78, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 11:57 pm March 12, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 4, 1947 in Mount Vernon to the late Verle Moore and Venita (Hayes) Flanagan. Roger married Karen (Lopez) Moore in 2010 and she survives.
In addition to his beloved wife, Roger is survived by his children, Mark Moore and Morgan Moore; grandchildren, Austin Moore; great-grandchildren, Henli Moore and Trigg Moore; stepchildren, Greg Sullivan and wife, Nancy, Jeff Sullivan, and Jennifer Schubert and husband, David; step-grandchildren, Alec, Alexander, Jaxon, Hope, Josh, Noah, and Aubrey; siblings, Barbara Frizzell and Mike Flanagan and wife, Kris; father-in-law, Joe Lopez and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his siblings, Ronnie Moore, Joyce Koch, and Teresa Falcone.
For 34 years, Roger worked as a Boilermaker for Local 363 out of Belleville, Illinois, retiring in 2002. Roger was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and loved the outdoors. Roger will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, treasured grandfather, dear brother and brother-in-law, and beloved friend to many.
A Visitation will be held Friday, March 20, 2026 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Reverend Don Rector officiating. Memorials may be made in Roger’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
