Derek Shane Richardson, 46, passed away Monday morning at his residence in Benton. Born in Benton on September 24, 1979, he was the son of Nancy Lynn Harp Richardson and the late James Earl (Zion) Richardson.

Shane was a highly skilled carpenter who loved his friends and family. He enjoyed meeting new people and making them a part of his life. He adored playing guitar, attending music festivals, traveling, and being outdoors, especially in the company of friends.

He is survived by his mother, Nancy Lynn Lambert, and stepfather, Kevin Lambert of Benton; his brother, Craig Michael Burgess of Arnold, MO; stepbrothers, Nicholas Lambert of Benton and Jakeb Lambert (and partner Megan) of Coello; his son, Trevor Nathaniel Richardson, and wife Alicia of Carrier Mills; his nephew, Logan Burgess (and partner Isabelle) of Prairie City, IA; his aunt, Darlene Glasford of Anna; and other relatives, including Danny and Lea Burgess of Benton, and many more. He will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Earl (Zion) Richardson; his grandparents, Bobby and Gladys Richardson; and his grandmother, Rita June Plasters.

A celebration of life service for Derek Shane Richardson will be held Saturday March 28th, 2026, at 2:00 pm at the Benton Eagles, 201 E.
