MARION COUNTY — Bail has been set at $10,000 for a 39-year-old Salem man for allegedly violating the Illinois Sex Offender regulations.
Christopher Phillips was arrested by Marion County Sheriff’s deputies after he was found to allegedly be a child sex offender residing near a day care/park.
Phillips was convicted in Tennessee of sexually abusing a victim under the age of 13 when he was 33-years-old. He is now registered in Illinois as a sexual predator and has since been convicted of failing to report a change of address.
He remains in the Marion County jail pending the posting of bail. Phillips was appointed a public defender and is next scheduled to appear in court March 7 for a preliminary hearing.
