CENTRALIA — The State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to investigate the cause of a Saturday morning porch fire in the 1100 block of East Second Street in Centralia.

According to reports, a resident of the home discovered the fire around 6:10 a.m. Saturday, on a recliner and carpet in his enclosed porch.

The resident was able to pour a few jugs of water on the fire before Centralia City firefighters arrived.

Firefighters used smoke ejectors to clear smoke from the porch and a small area of the home.

The State Fire Marshal was contacted due to the suspicious nature of the fire. No one has reported seeing anything suspicious around the home prior to the fire.
