Asante C. Poore was arrested last month after being brought to the ground by a Taser fired by a Centralia police officer.
Central City officers responding to a load noise complaint at an apartment on South Broadway found an intoxicated male and his girlfriend having a verbal domestic disturbance.
Poore left only to return later. Central City officers received another call, this time a report of a male subject pointing a loaded gun at people.
When the officer returned, witnesses advised him that Poore had pointed a loaded gun, cocked the gun, and pushed his girlfriend to the ground before leaving the scene eastbound toward Lion’s Park.
Officers in the area were alerted of an armed subject and given a description of Poore. A Centralia police officer ultimately located Poore in the 300 block of North Elm and Poore took off running. The officer deployed his Taser, which brought Poore to the ground and he was taken in to custody.
A search of Poore revealed a Glock handgun that was fully loaded, cocked, and with a live round in the chamber.
At the time of his arrest Poore was on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections after serving less than seven months on a five–year sentence for a 2016 conviction for residential burglary.
