ARIZONA — A nationwide recall of 6.5 million pounds of beef products, which officials have identified as the cause of illness in more than 50 people, has been issued due to possible salmonella contamination.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced in a news release Thursday that the various raw products, including ground beef, were packaged by JBS Tolleson, a Tolleson, AZ, company, from July 26 to Sept. 7, 2018.
JBS meats are sold under various names, including Walmart’s Showcase brand. Other brand names include Cedar River Farms Natural Beef, Gourmet Burger, and Grass Run Farms Natural Beef. The complete list of recalled products has hundreds of items.
Products were shipped nationwide. They were sold in Illinois include Grass Run Farms Natural Beef and Showcase, which is also sold in Missouri.
The products have “EST. 267” inside the USDA mark of inspection on the packaging.
Nearly 60 people have reported symptoms from the beef products, according to the release.

Salmonella can cause diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever, according to an FSIS statement. Most patients recover without treatment.
