FRANKLIN COUNTY — The sheriff in Franklin County says the sheriff’s office continues to receive reports daily of various scams.

Don Jones says a recent scam attempt involved a phone call to a local resident informing them that their voter registration was expired and there was a charge to re-register.

Jones says this of course is not true as registration does not expire and there is no charge to vote or to register to vote.

The sheriff says the IRS scam is still prevalent, with phone calls information taxpayers they owe back taxes and penalties, which is totally bogus.

You need to remember to not give out personal or banking information over the phone or internet unless you are absolutely sure who you are talking to.
