David Leroy Bright is charged with two counts first-degree murder for the September 2017 murder of James Skinner.

Bright’s attorney made a motion in court Friday to continue the case and delay the jury trial. Judge Don Shaefor denied that motion, however, and the case remains on track for a March 18 jury trial.

Skinner was found dead September 17, 2017, at his home in Brownstown. At that time then Fayette County Coroner Bruce Bowen said it was obvious that someone had taken Skinner’s life; however, he did not release the cause of Skinner’s death and the case was placed under investigation.

Bright was arrested the following January on a warrant charging him with first-degree murder and setting his bail at $1 million.
