JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Illinois Department of Transportation is alerting motorists to an upcoming lane closure on Interstate 64 In Mt. Vernon.

The closures are scheduled to begin at 7 .m. Tuesday, May 14, and will continue until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday May 15.

Maintenance crews will be conducting pavement testing on I-64 from impost 73 to milepost 62 in the eastbound and westbound lanes.

Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the construction site as quickly as possible. Other through traffic is encouraged to seek alternate routes while the work is underway.
