JACKSON COUNTY — Carbondale authorities are confirming a 23-year-old Chicago man is in custody for allegedly attempting to abduct a child Sunday evening at the University Mall in Carbondale.

Argenis Hernandez has been charged with stalking and disorderly conduct. According to the victim’s mother on her Facebook page Hernandez followed her around several stores taking pictures of her 9-month-old daughter.
She says police have one photo of Hernandez reaching into the stroller.
Hernandez is being held in the Jackson County Jail. Additional charges are possible.
